STUDIO AUTHOR RE-IMAGINES THE SPA EXPERIENCE
TEXT BY ANNIE BLOCK

testimonial

“WE SELECTED STUDIO AUTHOR FOR THE SECOND LOCATION OF OUR BEAUTY / HOSPITALITY CONCEPT, IN THE TONY NEIGHBOURHOOD OF YORKVILLE, TORONTO. ALTHOUGH RESUME, PORTFOLIO AND TESTIMONIALS ALL PLAYED A ROLE IN THE SELECTION PROCESS, IT WAS THE PARTNER’S DEEP UNDERSTANDING OF OUR VISION FROM THE OUTSET AND THEIR PROFESSIONAL BUT FRIENDLY PERSONALITIES THAT CONVINCED US THERE WAS NO OTHER DESIGN CONSULTANT BETTER SERVED TO WORK WITH US. WE VALUE VISION AND RELATIONSHIPS OVER EVERYTHING.

THE INITIAL PROPOSAL IDEATION BECAME THE ESSENTIAL DESIGN PILLARS OF THE PROJECT. THIS EARLY DESIGN SUCCESS MADE THE ENTIRE PROCESS EFFORTLESS AND THE INITIAL PILLARS REMAINED CONSISTENT AND DEFENDED THROUGHOUT THE PROJECT. AT TIMES, WE (THE CLIENTS) WAIVERED FROM THE VISION, LOST CONFIDENCE IN OUR OWN IDEAS OR HAD FATIGUE. IT WAS STUDIO AUTHOR WHO DEFENDED OUR VISION AND SAW THE PROJECT THROUGH IN EVERY PAINSTAKING DETAIL. THE PARTNER’S MADE EARLY CONNECTIONS WITH OUR CONTRACTORS AND TRADES TO ENSURE THAT THE DESIGN INTENTION COULD BE EXECUTED IN FORM, FUNCTION AND ON BUDGET. AND WHERE THERE WAS RESISTANCE FROM THE TRADES, DUE TO COMPLEXITY, THE PARTNERS PUSHED THROUGH, TO FIND REPLACEMENT TRADES OR DESIGN SOLUTIONS TO ENSURE THERE WAS NEVER COMPROMISE.

FOR THE FINER DETAILS IN THE PROJECT, WHERE CUSTOMIZATION WAS REQUIRED, STUDIO AUTHOR SOURCED AND MANAGED THEIR OWN PORTFOLIO OF ARTISANS TO BRING THE UNIQUE ELEMENTS OF THE PROJECT TO LIFE, INCLUDING SEAMSTRESSES, FURNITURE SUPPLIERS, ARTISTS AND SCULPTORS. DURING THESE CUSTOM ADVENTURES, STUDIO AUTHOR ALWAYS KEPT THE BUDGET IN MIND AND ANY RECOMMENDATIONS TO SPEND WAS ALWAYS CAREFULLY CONSIDERED AND TO THIS DAY, THE DECISIONS THEY PUSHED FOR, REMAIN THE UNIQUE ASPECTS OF OUR DESIGN THAT MAKE IT THE SUCCESS IT IS.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH STUDIO AUTHOR AGAIN AND RECOMMEND THEM FOR ANYONE LOOKING FOR TALENTED, PROFESSIONAL, CONFIDENT AND CONSIDERATE DESIGNERS WHO TAKE VISION AND BRING IT TO LIFE.”
